MERLOT (Multimedia Educational Resources for Learning and Online Teaching) – The MERLOT project is supported by the State Higher Education Executive Officers (SHEEO) and the National Learning Infrastructure Initiative (NLII) of EDUCAUSE. The California State University, University System of Georgia, University of North Carolina, the Oklahoma State Regents and nineteen other university systems along with over 60 faculty from these institutions are collaborating in the project. The MERLOT project (http://merlot.org) is an online community of faculty who are collaborating to increase the quantity of high quality web-based, interactive teaching and learning materials. The MERLOT web site is a free “gateway” for these web-based materials. Finding web-based materials to incorporate into one’s course is just the first step for faculty. Faculty must also decide if the materials are correct, effective teaching-learning tools, and easy to use. A collection of high quality online teaching and learning materials is realized through a peer review process and samples of student learning assignments that make the most of the interactive materials. Further details from http://taste.merlot.org.

Powerpoint Presentations of Psychological Studies – Teachers in psychology can download studies and keywords for their teaching. The presentations are interlinked so that students can go through presentations and keywords online. First student evaluations of the database have brought positive results, especially as a supplement to lectures. The database has been presented at last year’s IEEE International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies. Up to now, there are presentations of around 100 studies and of as many keywords on the database, mostly in the fields of cognitive and social psychology; presentations are added regularly, so the database will grow. We focus on classical and recent studies that are relevant to teaching psychology at high school and undergraduate level.
