There are numerous organisation offering voluntary work to students and those recently qualified. So of the positions are paid and other are not. Here is a selection the best.

Africa & Asia Venture – We are a gap year organisation offering 3 to 5 month volunteering projects in the developing world. We have been sending volunteers on teaching, community, and sports coaching projects for the last 17 years; we are also a founding member of The Year Out Group. Our scheme includes an in-country induction course, a full term in a rural government-funded school, a 4 week period designated for travel at the end, all back up by 24 hour in-country support from our representatives.

Global Volunteer Network – A non profit organisation. We place people in community projects in China, Ecuador, Ghana, Nepal, Uganda, and Romania. Volunteers have the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational and community aid programs. Volunteers can be involved in teaching English, environmental work, health and sanitation, and cultural home stays.

NCVO – (National Council for Voluntary Organisations- UK)

Project Trust – UK – Gap year organisation that sends secondary school leavers abroad for a year’s voluntary work in 24 different developing countries around the world, in Latin America, Africa, the Far and Middle East

SENEVOLU – A senegalese non-profit association that promotes community tourism & volunteer work in Senegal.

Students Partnership World-wide (SPW) – A charity which runs school-based and environmental grass-roots development programmes in Africa and Asia for young volunteers, 18 – 28 to work in India, Nepal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe
